Heck, I'm Going to Haiti!

FANTASTIC NEWS!!! If the title of this blog didn't give it away already, I'M GOING TO HAITI!!! Common Ground Christian Church will be teaming up with Northwest Haiti Christian Mission for a second time as part of a Neighbors Project. This Neighbors Project is not a one time or a two time deal, it is a project that spans over the next few years and is something that is near and dear to my heart.

In November, we had a team that went down to survey the area, assess needs and find ways that Common Ground could help in the most affective ways possible. During this time, there was a horrendous outbreak of cholera that swept over the country killing thousands and threatening the lives of everyone who came in contact with the disease.

Praise God, there is a way to prevent the spread of cholera and it is as easy as flipping a switch. Common Ground found these incredibly inexpensive water filtration systems that, with the turn of a nozzle and a little patience, can purify a 5 gallon bucket of water in less than twenty minutes. The best part of all is that these are guaranteed for life, and will never have to be replaced!!

Common Ground's goal during the month of June is to install one water filtration system per home in Berger, a tiny village near St. Louis du Nord. The first step in ensuring a positive future for Haiti as a country, is to provide something as simple as purified drinking water today.

If you or someone you know would like to financially support me and my team in this amazing opportunity, please visit Common Ground's website. Here you will find more resources to help you better understand our mission for 2011 and the upcoming years, as well as view footage and photos from our trip last November.

With a few clicks you can place a donation in my name (please make sure to select Kelly C. when placing your donation) or to help purchase more water filtration systems. Please note that your generous donation is not only GREATLY appreciated, but it is also tax deductible as Northwest Haiti Christian Mission is a 501(c)(3)... receipts will be provided at the end of the year.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read about the new and exciting adventures God has blessed me to be a part of!

Blessings,

Kelly
