Blog Honesty

Dear Never Let The Facts Get in the Way of a Good Story Readers,

I owe you an apology. Even though I have shared incredibly personal moments with you over the past few months, there is something that you didn't know. Something that, I'm told, is very common in the blogger world. Since the conception of this baby, I've had a blog counter. It would tell me how many hits a day I was getting and where the hits were coming from. This idea came from a dear friend of mine who was having her blog stalked. Her stalkers were taking her information and doing mean and dangerous things with it. I thought "I don't want that to happen to me" and so I decided to take precautions with my blog. Okay, why lie? I was also curious as to who was reading my stories *guilty*. I decided I wanted to up the ante a little bit and download a "blog patroller" which would tell me the IP addresses of everyone who clicked through my site.

I was pleasantly surprised, most of the time, to find that a lot of my friends and family check in pretty regularly. And wouldn't you know it, it's a great way to find out if any of your exs are still checking up on you... "Hi Jesse." But alas, things got a little out of hand. I was incessantly checking my "blog patroller" to see if any new IP addresses showed up, and of course, always flattered when a Norfolk Navy Base address showed up "Hi Jesse." Like I said, it was out of hand and I realized I was becoming obsessed with what people thought of me, and of what they read.

Now, don't you all worry, I deleted the "blog patroller." I deleted it simply because, I don't care anymore. I don't care if you read, or if you don't read. If you check in once a day, or once a month, I'm just glad you're checking in.

I hope this apology will suffice and that you will continue to get pleasure out of reading! I promise that a lot of new and exciting things will be happening here very shortly :)

  2. That's great! Mines gone too. It was sweet to see my parents checking up but they call now to tell me what they've read. Awe they care :) But haha to your ex. I love that you can call that out.
