I was beyond excited. I scoured the internet far and wide to find the exact time that the full lunar eclipse would be visible. 3:15 a.m.? Okay, I guess I can do that. I set my alarm and laid out my boots, winter coat, hat, mittens and scarf. When I went to bed, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the moon was brilliant. I almost wanted to stay up all night to watch the transformation, but heaven knows I am a crankapotomus when I'm tried.
3:15 a.m. my alarm goes off. I jump out of bed like it's Christmas morning and throw on all of my gear like I was a firefighter racing to venture out to a structure fire. I.WAS. ECSTATIC. That is, until I got outside. There were too many dang clouds to see anything really exciting. It just looked like your average full moon, but farther away with a tint of orange. Then I.WAS.UNAMUSED. *sigh*. I went back to bed all disappointed and couldn't fall asleep. Silly me, I didn't realize that regardless of whether or not it was the most amazing sight I've ever seen, I was a part of something that only happens every 300 years or so and something that God had designed since the beginning of time. I had plans to enjoy some chocolate covered strawberries I received as a Christmas gift, but unfortunately this occasion did not call for chocolate covered strawberries. Instead, I ate them for breakfast :)
At least I can say that I tried right?
This may very well be my last blog entry before Christmas as I have an unnecessary amount of packing that has to get done. So to all of you, thanks so much for making 2010 great! And for sticking with me through the good blogs and the bad blogs. I am over the moon (pun intended) about what 2011 has in store for me and can't wait to share all of my fantastic adventures with you!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
I listened to it on the radio. Left disappointed.
