Hope for the Holidays

Hey blog friends, I have fantastic news! Earlier this week, I received a promotion at my job which is incredibly exciting!! This only leaves bigger and better things for the future and I, for one, can't wait. It is incredibly scary though, settling down. I always had some new challenge right on the horizon and now, it's as if it's smooth sailing and calm seas. I'm used to having to adapt to an ever changing schedule and willing to expect the unexpected. Now, life seems to be fairly routine and ordinary. That said, life is what we make of it and I guess I'll just have to find new and exciting things to do...

Like train for my half marathon in May. I'm usually terrible about making commitments so far in advance, but this really gives me the chance to get my butt in gear and gives me an end goal. During my training, I'm going to try and find a 10K to run, just to get and idea of what I'm actually getting myself into. I'm also considering joining a Gym so I can take kickboxing and cycling classes as my alternative forms of exercise during training. I'm very excited but also very nervous about whether or not my body is going to like all of this. I guess we'll see.

To end on a lighter note. On my way to Church today, I saw an old man crossing the street with a walker, both hands occupied so he wasn't able to shield himself from the pouring rain. A group of young girls walked up behind him and covered him with their umbrellas until he got to his car. It warmed my heart and choked me up a little bit. It was so fantastic to see young people actually caring about others. It was a great start to a very Merry Christmas.

This time last year, we had a record breaking snow storm. This time, just rain. I love Virginia, but counting down the days until I get to see my wonderful family :)
