Silly, Silly Bandz

I. DON'T. GET. IT.

Maybe because I'm a 24 year old single woman who has very little interaction with the "little creatures" (aka children.)Or, maybe I'm just really that uncool and can say "see ya later" to a time when I was hip to all the upcoming trends. Or shall I say, I WAS uncool.

Until about two weeks ago, I had no idea what a Silly Band was, or is it spelled Silly Bandz? Anyway, my young girl cousins were driving through Northern Virginia on their way home from North Carolina and called me to see if we could meet for lunch. That day, in the Wendy's restaurant, I became hip to the trend. My cousin Shannon, was sweet enough to offer me one of her many, many bands. I picked the purple pump. Ummm hello? Do you know me at all? Of COURSE I would pick the purple high heel :)



She had said, in her ever so adorable Elmer Fudd voice "promise me you'll wear it." I said "I promise," and thus I've subjected myself to endless questions for the past two weeks. Kids pulling at my arm to see which band I'm sporting, mothers in the WAWA parking lot asking me if I would switch with their children. It's absolutely NUTS, but then I can't help but wonder, "how on EARTH didn't you think of this idea Kelly?"

So here I sit, with my purple shirt, my purple pedicure and my purple Silly Bandz. Wondering what the next craze will be? What will be the next random fad to come and go in the blink of an eye?
